63 mph top speed and 20 minutes on a charge makes it an expensive toy but it sure looks like fun

This is cool. I have been promised flying cars since I was. Kid. This needs to happen soon!

Replace the mass of the batteries with a small turbogenerator and 20l of fuel and I'm in.

That would turn it into something useful, instead of an expensive toy

Electric motors are more efficient at energy use than internal combustion engines, but with flight, mass is a big deal. With fuel the more you burn, the lighter your mass and the less thrust needed to maintain flight. Batteries maintain the same relative mass whether fully charged or dead. I still think the changing mass from burning fuel will prove better efficiency in terms of needed energy than electric motors/batteries.

Sweden and Norway are working hard on zero emissions flight
Sweden has large fleets of short haul passenger planes and they have prototypes
of battery powered short haul passenger aircraft already flying.
They hope to have them in commercial use within the next 5 years

There are lots of companies working on similar concepts.
That one sure looks cool though.

Thinking about this, My drive to work, door to door, is 13.3 miles. It's about 10 miles as the crow flies. At 60mph top speed, that's about 10 minutes of flight. With the 20 minute advertised flight time, I should easily be able to make it to work on a full charge. I wonder if an 8 hour day is enough to charge it on 110v or if it would need a higher voltage charger.
